Shusterman, Gov. Wolf welcome title-winning baseball team from Devon Preparatory School to the Capitol

HARRISBURG, Nov. 20 – State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester/Montgomery, welcomed Devon Prep’s baseball team to the House chamber in the PA Capitol on Tuesday to congratulate them on their PIAA Class 2A championship win. Gov. Wolf also personally congratulated the team during their visit.

Devon Prep won the PIAA Class 2A baseball championship by defeating Serra Catholic High School, 3-2, in June in State College. After allowing two runs in the first inning, Devon Prep held Serra Catholic scoreless for the remainder of the game.

In the biggest game of the season, Devon Prep capped its state championship season with a come-from-behind victory, clinching the program’s first state title since 2014 by scoring the game’s final three runs.

“I’m extremely proud of Devon Prep’s baseball team and I congratulate them on earning their second state title,” Shusterman said. “I applaud their determination and impressive teamwork that led them here today. Their resilience and persistence on the field is truly admirable.”
