Shusterman announces $1 million in grants for two projects

Grants will fund sidewalk construction and Timothy School renovations

WEST CHESTER, March 17 – State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, today announced grants that will fund local development and infrastructure projects.

The projects involve sidewalk and crosswalk construction near Devon Station in Easttown Township and renovations to the Timothy School in Tredyffrin Township.

“The investments in these projects will help the people in communities I represent,” Shusterman said. “Something as simple as a safe intersection or as complex as renovating a school for students with autism -- any help that the state provides – goes a long way in helping the people of Chester County.”

The grant funding includes:

  • $800,000 to the Chester County Economic Development Council for Phase 3 of the redevelopment of The Timothy School facility in Tredyffrin Township.
  • $200,000 to Easttown Township for sidewalk and crosswalk construction near Devon Station.

The funding comes from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund and the Statewide Local Share Account Program. The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to residents of Pennsylvania.

The funds distributed through the Statewide Local Share Account come from gaming revenues. State law provides for the distribution of gaming revenues from PA casinos to support projects in host and contiguous counties that benefit the public interest.
