Snyder: Information, resources available on dangers of vaping

CARMICHAELS, Nov. 12 – As a concerted effort to educate residents – including youngsters – about the dangers of e-cigarettes and vaping, state Rep. Pam Snyder said her office is providing information and resources, including a specially created brochure.

“While many of us may be familiar with e-cigarettes and vaping in general, what you may not know is just how easily these devices can mimic flash drives, making them easy for youngsters to hide from their parents and caregivers,” Snyder said. “Even though scientists are still trying to fully understand the myriad of health impacts surrounding vaping, what we do know is that it can have serious health consequences. I want to ensure parents, teachers and youngsters are aware of the health dangers, but also know where to go for additional information in the community.”

Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, said the brochure, titled “Vaping and E-Cigarette Information: What You Should Know includes pictures of and information about e-cigarette devices, health dangers associated with vaping, and resources for youngsters and parents.

Snyder has partnered with the state Attorney General’s Office in speaking about the dangers of vaping at schools in six school districts in recent weeks, with one additional speaking engagement scheduled for later this month.
