Snyder: Waynesburg University to receive nearly $30,000 grant as part of national initiative to combat campus sexual assaults

HARRISBURG, Jan. 16 – Waynesburg University is among several Pennsylvania colleges and universities to receive a $29,799 grant to raise awareness of and prevent campus sexual assaults, state Rep. Pam Snyder announced today.

Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, said the funds originate from the “It’s On Us” campaign, a national effort designed to educate college students about sexual violence and assault. Pennsylvania was the first state in the nation to create its own statewide “It’s On Us” campaign four years ago, she added.

“Every student on our college and university campuses deserves to learn in an environment free from any form of violent or threatening behavior, and that includes harassment and sexual assault,” Snyder said. “These funds will help Waynesburg University implement vital prevention programs and services to educate students, teachers and administrators, and also provide needed resources to help survivors of sexual violence.”

Since its inception, Pennsylvania has received nearly $4 million in “It’s On Us” grants to create sexual assault prevention and education programs at campuses across the commonwealth. More information can be found at the following link: https://www.governor.pa.gov/its-on-us/.
