Fifth annual Greene County Senior Fair on tap Oct. 7 at fairgrounds
CARMICHAELS, Sept. 30 – State Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Greene/Fayette/Washington, today said the fifth annual Greene County Senior Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at the Greene County Fairgrounds near Waynesburg.
Sponsored by Snyder, Greene County Commissioners Blair Zimmerman, Dave Coder and Archie Trader, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging and state Sen. Camera Bartolotta, the free Senior Fair features representatives from state, local and county agencies and vendors who provide services to seniors.
Attendees will be able to receive a free flu shot provided by Cornerstone Care if they present their Medicare card. Health screenings also will be available.
"The Senior Fair enables people to get vaccinations when they are most effective -- before winter sets in and before flu season hits full stride,” Snyder said. “The fair also links residents with agencies geared to assist older citizens at a fun, friendly and convenient event."
The event also features:
Information about the state Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, PACE and PACENET prescription-drug plans, heating assistance and other state programs;
Lunch prepared by Greene County Career and Technology Center students and sponsored by a local company;
Door prize drawings with registration; and
A grand door prize – registration required -- of a flat-screen television, donated by a local business.
