Solomon distributes 400 free turkeys to help families in need

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 26 – State Rep. Jared Solomon helped distribute 400 free turkeys Monday as part of his third annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at The Exchange at Oxford Circle in Northeast Philadelphia.

"The holidays are a time for giving, and this is just one way we're working to prevent families in need from going hungry on Thanksgiving," said Solomon, D-Phila. "It is always inspiring to participate in this now annual event and see members of the community going the extra mile to help neighbors they don’t even know.”

The giveaway was part of a collaborative effort with Solomon, state Sen. Tina Tartaglione, D-Phila., the Exchange at Oxford Circle, and Gary Barbera Cares and made possible by an anonymous donor.

"This event is just another example of why strong community partnerships are so critical in putting the needs of our neighbors first," explained Solomon.

The Exchange, which is part of the Oxford Circle Christian Community Development Association (OCCCD), is a thrift store that offers affordable products, along with job training and employment opportunities to low-income residents.
