Solomon sworn in for fifth term as state representative in Northeast Philadelphia

Said he’s committed to moving Pennsylvania forward with bipartisanship

After being sworn in for his fifth term, state Rep. Jared Solomon reaffirmed his commitment to serve Pennsylvania by delivering action-oriented government both in Northeast Philadelphia and in Harrisburg. Armed with years of legislative experience, the lawmaker said he’s ready to fight for issues that will deliver safer communities, better quality of life, and reformed government and institutions for the people.

“In this new legislative session, I will continue to work with my colleagues in a bipartisan and bicameral spirit,” Solomon said. “I stand firm in my belief that the only way to end partisan gridlock in Harrisburg is by working together for the improvement of all Pennsylvanians.”

In past legislative sessions, Solomon worked with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to advance many bills, nine of which became law:

  • Expanding affordable housing by giving local governments options to pass tax abatement and exemptions for low-income homeowners and renters (with Republican state Sen. Joe Pittman).
  • Establishing the commission to plan and coordinate America’s 250th Birthday across Pennsylvania's 67 counties (with former Republican state Rep. Alex Charlton).
  • Codifying in statute the PA One Stop Shop portal through which new and existing business owners can easily navigate the process of setting up or expanding their business (with former Republican state Rep. Mike Peifer).
  • Establishing the Schools-to-Work program creating workforce opportunities for students (with Republican state Rep. Kate Klunk)
  • Funding for staff and infrastructure upgrades at 911 call centers statewide (with bipartisan work in the House and Senate)
  • Creating a program allowing school districts to draw from pre-vetted volunteers to build mentor/mentee relationships between students and seniors around a trade, job, or hobby (with Republican state Sen. Dave Argall).
  • Establishing legacy infrastructure projects throughout the state in preparation of the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States in 2026 (with former Republican state Rep. Wendi Thomas).
  • Renewing the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority Act for Philadelphia (with Republican state Rep. Martina White).
  • Establishing a registry of PA veterans to provide information on federal, state and local government benefits, programs and services available to veterans and to link veterans with resources that can aid them (with former Republican state Rep. Matt Gabler).

Solomon said he will continue to work on legislation that restores the public’s faith in Pennsylvania’s electoral process- a gift ban for elected officials, transparency around dark money in elections, and providing Pennsylvanians with the right to recall state and local officials who aren’t living up to their expectations.

“I’m proud of everything we accomplished during past legislative sessions; it is an honor to serve Pennsylvania’s 202nd Legislative District,” Solomon said. “I look forward to the next chapter building on the important changes we’re making for the commonwealth.”
