Burns: Johnstown to receive $24 million grant
Federal grant supported by legislator brings ‘tremendous opportunity’ to region

EBENSBURG, Nov. 17 – Calling it a “tremendous opportunity” for Cambria County, state Rep. Frank Burns today congratulated the city of Johnstown in securing a $24.4 million federal grant with his support and said he looked forward to working with other local leaders to continue to push the region forward.
“This federal grant, combined with the earlier CARES funding we worked to secure, creates a tremendous opportunity not just for Johnstown, but for our entire region,” Burns said. “I’ve been aggressively going after federal and state funding since taking office in order to create these kinds of opportunities. Now, I’m looking forward to working with other local leaders to make the smart investments we need for our future.”
Burns supported the city’s application for the $24.4 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant through the U.S. Dept. of Transportation. Projects in the grant application included rehabilitating the Johnstown Train Station, modernizing the CamTran transportation center, downtown beautification, Incline Plane upgrades and other projects.
“Since taking office I’ve helped secure more than $250 million in state and federal grants for our region, and I’m always looking for opportunities like this to lend a hand,” Burns said. “Whether its federal or state programs, I’m fighting for Cambria County, to make sure we get our fair share of what’s out there.”
