ALIQUIPPA, May 20 – Industrial and mechanical fabricator McCarl’s LLC is investing $15 million to expand its operations in Beaver County, where the company has purchased an 80,000-square-foot facility in Aliquippa to serve as a fabrication hub and headquarters, state Rep. Rob Matzie announced today.
Matzie, who is chairman of the House Majority Caucus, said the company is expanding its pipe fabrication operations to meet growing demand and that Beaver County’s workforce is ready to meet that demand.
"This was an important project that I have been advocating for over a year and in constant contact with the governor's office, Ken Burk from McCarl’s, Lew Villotti at the Beaver County Corporation for Economic Development and our Building and Construction Trades," said Matzie. "Keeping and creating more jobs for Beaver County was the driving factor in securing this funding and will be another cornerstone in continued growth in our industrial sites in my district, Beaver County and our region.
“McCarl’s investment – which will be strengthened by an additional state investment of $2 million – is a testament to their faith in the talent of our region’s skilled workforce, which time and again have proven their capacity to meet and exceed demand,” said Matzie. “The expansion is estimated to create 130 new jobs over the next five years, and our workforce is more than ready to fit the bill.”
Matzie said that to further the project, Gov. Josh Shapiro’s BusinessPA team helped coordinate an additional $2 million in the form of a Pennsylvania First grant funded through the Department of Community and Economic Development.
“I can’t stress enough, this expansion means more jobs, more money flowing into our local economy, and greater prospects for long-term growth here at home,” Matzie said. “I’m thankful to McCarl’s for their vision and faith in our workforce, and to the governor for strengthening that investment with new dollars to take us even further.”
The larger, integrated facility located at 210 Bet-Tech Drive in Aliquippa will be equipped with welding booths, robotic welding machines, and other equipment to help decrease production time and increase output. The building will also serve as the new headquarters.
