Warren congratulates Lower Makefield Township on funding for trail expansion

HARRISBURG, May 8 – State Rep. Perry Warren congratulated Lower Makefield Township today for being awarded state funding to expand a multi-use trail in the township.

Lower Makefield Township was awarded $700,000 for 3,500 feet of multi-use trail that will connect existing trails to several township facilities, parks and schools.

“Using alternative transportation methods is good for the environment and good for your health, and we should be encouraging it,” said Warren, D-Bucks. “Whether you’re biking or walking, this project will make it easier and safer to get around to a number of spots in Lower Makefield Township, and I’m pleased the state was able to award this funding.”

The funding is part of $68.8 million awarded by the state through the Surface Transportation Block Grant program Set-Aside, or Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside. The program provides funding for projects and activities defined as “transportation alternatives,” such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, infrastructure projects, trails that serve a transportation purpose, and safe routes to school projects.
