Waxman, Marcell honor International Holocaust Remembrance Day with HR 391

Today, State Reps. Ben Waxman, D-Phila., and Kristin Marcell, R-Bucks, commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day and highlight the importance of H.R. 391, a measure before the Pennsylvania House State Government Committee recognizing January 27, 2026, as a day of solemn remembrance across the Commonwealth.

“Today, we join people around the world to honor the 6 million Jewish lives and millions of others who were murdered in the Holocaust, a crime against humanity rooted in hatred and bigotry,” said Waxman, who is Jewish. “International Holocaust Remembrance Day matters not just as a memorial, but as a call to action against rising antisemitism and hate of any kind.”

“Holocaust Remembrance Day is a solemn opportunity to honor the memory of the 6 million Jews and millions of others who were murdered,” Marcell said. “It is also a call to vigilance. We must confront antisemitism wherever it appears and commit ourselves to preserving the truth of history. Education, remembrance and action remain our most powerful tools against hate.”

House Resolution 391, sponsored by members of both parties, formally recognizes Jan. 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Pennsylvania. The resolution proves the Commonwealth’s commitment to remembering and honoring the victims, rejecting denial or distortion of history, and educating future generations about the consequences of hatred.
