Upcoming annual Health and Wellness Weekend in Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 16 – Starting on Saturday, Aug. 21, Pittsburgh residents will have the opportunity to celebrate summer and community at the eighth annual Health and Wellness Weekend in the heart of the Hill District.
Hosted by state Rep. Jake Wheatley, D-Allegheny, this annual event celebrates and promotes physical, spiritual and environmental wellness in the community.
“I look forward to this event every year, and I’m so glad we’re able to celebrate the summer season with our neighborhood,” Wheatley said. “It truly has something for everyone, from the run/walk/wide event, to cooking demonstrations, a climbing wall, free food, games, face painting, live entertainment, and so much more. This is a wonderful event where our folks can learn how to better their physical and mental health.”
Saturday’s events begin at 8 a.m. with the Historic Hill 5k Run/Walk/Ride on Freedom Corner in the Hill District, with onsite registration starting at 6:30 a.m. This event will be followed by a Community Appreciation Day and Health Expo, providing information, activities and resources from area businesses, community associations, and state and local government entities.
