Rep. Williams appointed as Democratic secretary of the Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee
HARRISBURG, May 1 – State Rep. Dan Williams, D-Chester, was recently appointed Democratic secretary of the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee.
The Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee assists the House of Representatives by developing amendments and related legislation and reviewing bills pertinent to veteran-related and other military issues, as well as disaster preparation and emergency response. It has oversight of the Department of Military Affairs, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, and the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services under the Department of Health.
“Most of the real heroes in our communities don’t wear capes, but they defend and rescue, often with little acknowledgment of their efforts,” Williams said. “I’m honored to serve as secretary of this committee.”
Williams, who was sworn in for his first term Jan. 1, also serves on the Children and Youth Committee and the Urban Affairs Committee. He represents the 74th Legislative District in Chester County.
