Zabel to host Thanksgiving Food Collection Drive Nov. 20

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, Nov. 8 – State Rep. Mike Zabel is working with local organizations to help restock Delaware County food pantries and soup kitchens ahead of the holiday season. Zabel, D-Delaware, will host a Thanksgiving Food Collection Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20.

The food drive will be held in the parking lot of the Clifton Heights municipal building, located at 30 S. Springfield Road.

“It has always been important to help those in need, and it has been even more significant in our community during the pandemic,” Zabel said. “I’m proud to partner with Boy Scouts Troop 111 to collect food to help people in need around Delco.”

Items needed by local food banks include: Thanksgiving foods, canned fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, tuna and other canned meats, cooking oil, coffee, tea, sugar, cereals, infant formula, baby food, rice, pasta, canned soup and toiletries.

In order to avoid broken glass during transport, please do not donate anything in jars.

Participants can pull up in their cars and volunteers will remove the items from car trunks. All food will be donated to local food pantries.

For the safety of the public and the Scouts volunteering at this drive, members of the public are asked to wear masks when interacting with volunteers.
