Abney: $2 million in grants to benefit 19th District

HARRISBURG, Jan. 20 — State Rep. Aerion Abney, D-Allegheny, today announced that more than $2 million in grants has been awarded to four projects that will benefit the 19th Legislative District.

“Our neighborhoods and institutions rely on funding like this,” Abney said. “This funding will make our streets and sidewalks safer and more accessible. I’m happy to be an advocate in Harrisburg for funding that improves our quality of life and makes Pittsburgh a more attractive city to live in.”

The grant recipients are:

  • The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust: $1 million for streetscape, lighting and ADA improvements along Penn Avenue, Seventh Street and Ninth Street.
  • Northside Leadership Conference: $594,540 for pedestrian lighting along East Ohio Street.
  • Urban Impact Foundation: $339,742 for pedestrian safety along North Charles Street.
  • The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh: $136,101 for sidewalk improvements.

The grants were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority from the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
