$2.3 million awarded for local transportation and infrastructure projects

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Jan. 20 – State Rep. Lisa Borowski announced today that more than $2.3 million in new funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority will support transportation and infrastructure projects in Newtown, Radnor, and Middletown townships.

Borowski highlighted $1.7 million from the Multimodal Transportation Fund to help Radnor Township build an extension of the multi-use Radnor Trail. She was involved in the trail project from its inception while serving on the Radnor Board of Commissioners. She worked with Sen. Amanda Cappelletti to secure the state funds.

“The Radnor Trail has been a true labor of love for me personally, and for so many others, and I am thrilled that state funding will help get this trail project over the finish line,” Borowski said.

Additionally, $134,296 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund will be used to install an ADA-compliant crosswalk and make pedestrian safety improvements at the Ellis Preserve campus in Newtown Township. She worked with Sen. Tim. Kearney to secure these funds.

Middletown Township will receive $500,000 from the Small Water and Sewer Program to upgrade the S. Heilbron Drive Pump Station. Borowski worked with Sen. John Kane to secure these funds.

“I am honored to advocate for the people and communities of the 168th Legislative District and Delaware County, especially when state support is critical to addressing infrastructure and safety needs,” Borowski said. “Funding projects that improve walkability, safety, and residents’ quality of life is essential, and I am proud to help bring these funds to our communities for projects that might not be possible otherwise.”

The grants come from Pennsylvania’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, which supports projects that promote economic development and provide safe, reliable transportation, and the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, which funds the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation of water and sewer systems, stormwater projects, and flood control initiatives.
