Boyd applauds over $1.6 million for local community improvement projects

HARRISBURG, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Heather Boyd today announced that multiple organizations in her district were awarded over $1.6 million in new grant funding.

“Bringing state resources back to our communities is one of the most important parts of my job, and I’m proud to see more than $1.6 million invested in the 163rd,” said Boyd. “From improved parks and athletic facilities to stronger infrastructure and enhanced public safety, these are investments in the future of our communities and I’m proud to have advocated for them.”

The funds were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority via the Local Share Account, which distributes money from gaming revenues to counties to support projects in the public interest.

In the 163^rd District, Boyd supported state funding for the following projects:

$650,000 to McFadden Park for the installation of ADA-accessible playground equipment, safety surfacing, multi-age swings, a small basketball half-court, benches, litter bins, signage, fencing, and new trees and planning.
$500,000 to Darby Township to purchase six Chevrolet Tahoes, five fully marked patrol units and one unmarked administrative/detective vehicle with an upfit for the Darby Township Police Department.
$350,000 to Upper Darby Township for the demolition and reconstruction of approximately 265 linear feet of the Collenbrook Creek wall.
$102,248 to Aldan Borough to complete essential recreational infrastructure upgrades at the James H. Hopely Athletic Complex by installing two new full-featured LED electronic scoreboards and converting the existing sports lighting system to a modern, energy-efficient LED field lighting system.
