A Wonderful Opening Day at the Miracle Field of Horsham & Important Policy Discussions

Dear Friends,

What an incredible day celebrating Opening Day at the Miracle Field of Horsham!

It was truly special to see this amazing project officially come to life. So much hard work, determination, and community support went into making Miracle Field a reality, and today was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when people come together with a shared vision of inclusion and opportunity for every child.

It was wonderful to celebrate alongside so many community members, supporters, and volunteers who helped bring this dream to fruition. We were also fortunate to have several special guests join us, including the always-entertaining Phillie Phanatic, First Lady Lori Shapiro, Secretary of Labor and Industry Nancy A. Walker, and Rep. Ben Sanchez, who helped mark this incredible milestone for the board and the entire community.

A huge congratulations to everyone who worked tirelessly to make the Miracle Field of Horsham possible. This field will create countless memories, opportunities, and moments of joy for years to come. Today was about more than opening a field, it was about opening the door so that every child has the chance to play.

Thank you to everyone who made the day so special.

On another note, I also participated in a policy hearing focused on making medications more affordable for seniors. Many older adults live on fixed incomes, and rising prescription drug costs can force difficult trade-offs between basic needs such as food, housing, and the medications they rely on to stay healthy. Programs like PACE and PACENET were created to reduce that burden by helping eligible Pennsylvanians pay for their prescriptions.

The hearing highlighted ways to make these programs accessible to more people, including proposals to raise income limits so more seniors can qualify. Supporters of these changes note that:

  • PACE and PACENET already assist more than 250,000 older adults with medication costs.
  • Expanding eligibility could help thousands more who currently fall just above the income threshold but still struggle with high drug prices.
  • Improving affordability can reduce skipped doses, delayed care, and preventable health complications.

Strengthening prescription assistance programs is one important way to support healthier aging, reduce financial strain, and help older Pennsylvanians maintain independence and quality of life.

My final update, and certainly not the least important, is that this year’s Spring Period Supply Giveaway at Mitzvah Circle created an extraordinary and meaningful impact. A total of 300,736 pads were distributed, providing essential support to individuals and families throughout our community.

I am truly grateful to Fran and the entire team at Mitzvah Circle. Their unwavering dedication ensures that every person who turns to them is welcomed with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. Their work strengthens our community in ways that are both profound and far-reaching.

I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the friends and colleagues who joined in to support this effort. Your presence, partnership, and enthusiasm helped make this drive an exceptional success. Your willingness to step up and contribute made all the difference, and I am so appreciative of the teamwork and spirit you brought to this event.
