Financial Assistance for Heating Bills Now Available

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is now accepting applications for Cash and Crisis grants to help Pennsylvania households stay warm and safe this winter.

Applications are open through April 18, and eligible households can receive a one-time cash grant of $200 to $1,000, based on household size, income, and fuel type. Grants are paid directly to your utility or fuel provider.

Households facing a heating emergency—such as a shut-off notice, low fuel, or a broken heating system—may also qualify for a Crisis grant for additional support.

You may qualify for LIHEAP if:

  • Your household meets the income guidelines
  • You rent or own your home
  • You live with others who share household expenses

You do not need to have unpaid heating bills or be on other public assistance programs to apply.
