Guzman to host job fair in Reading

The event will be held in collaboration with the Reading Housing Authority

READING, May 7 – State Rep. Manny Guzman, D-Berks, today announced that he is partnering with the Reading Housing Authority to host a job fair to help residents dive into career paths with growth.

The Job Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 9 at Olivet Boys and Girls Club, located at 1161 Pershing Blvd.

Guzman said he wants to simplify the process for individuals to network, explore employment opportunities and score a job.

“I am excited to be joining forces with the Reading Housing Authority in this event and I am keenly looking forward to greater collaboration with the organization for the benefit of all families in the county,” Guzman added.

“From the beginning of my tenure as state representative, I have made it my mission to support and advance legislation to improve career, workforce and economic development initiatives in our community,” he added. “And I will continue advocating for better jobs and livable wages in Pennsylvania.”

Stacey Keppen, president and CEO of Reading Housing Authority, said that it’s harder than ever for families to make ends meet. Keppen explained that the fair is aimed at empowering residents with valuable information and resources.

“We are extremely grateful to Representative Guzman for his commitment to bringing meaningful opportunities to his constituency, including our residents in Oakbrook Homes,” Keppen said.

“By partnering in an on-site job fair, we bridge some of the challenges associated with realizing those life-changing opportunities that can come from employment that’s the right fit, both financially and otherwise. We look forward to seeing a great turnout of employers and job seekers on May 9,” she added.

Additionally, while at the event, Guzman and his staff will assist with state-related questions. More information is available by contacting Guzman’s office at 610-376-1529.
