Guzman welcomes $16,200 state grant for Alvernia agricultural project

READING, Aug. 13 – State Rep. Manuel Guzman Jr. today announced that Alvernia University has been awarded $16,200 through the second round of Pennsylvania’s Agricultural Innovation Grant Program to support an aeroponics greenhouse project.
The grant was awarded to:

“I’m pleased to see Alvernia University receive this funding to support an aeroponics greenhouse project that advances innovative approaches to agriculture,” said Guzman.
“It is encouraging to see the Agricultural Innovation Grant Program making a difference in our community,” Guzman added. “Agriculture is an important part of Pennsylvania’s economy, and I appreciate the Department of Agriculture and the Shapiro administration for their continued investment in the industry and their efforts to strengthen agriculture while protecting our natural resources.”
The $9.7 million statewide investment supports 97 projects across Pennsylvania aimed at improving agricultural efficiency and production, protecting soil and water resources, and advancing innovative technologies, including clean energy solutions.
A third round of Agricultural Innovation Grants will open Sept. 1, with $10 million in funding available through the 2026-27 state budget.
