$1M redevelopment project grant for Fame Fire Company

WEST CHESTER, Dec. 28 –State Rep.-elect Dianne Herrin, D-Chester, today announced $1 million from the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program that will support the Fame Fire Company of West Chester.

“Fame Fire Company has worked with West Chester Borough residents and the local municipality for years to make this project work for the entire community, and we are all grateful for their citizenship,” said Herrin. “This grant is a major win for everyone who is served by them, as it helps ensure Fame will continue to provide the highest level of fire safety and protection services to our broader community. Congratulations, Fame!”

“I’m so pleased Fame Fire Company has received this much-needed and well-deserved grant, which will help them as they serve Chester County and protect us all for many years to come,” said state Sen.-elect Carolyn Comitta, D-Chester. “Our West Chester fire companies are 100% volunteer, 100% certified, and 100% awesome!”

Fame Fire Company of West Chester will use the $1 million to renovate and expand the existing fire station located near West Chester University. The proposed improvements involve renovating the existing building and constructing an 8,000 square-foot addition. The new firehouse will have four single fire truck bays, two additional drive-through double length truck bays, a recreation room, a fitness/training room, office space, overnight bunks, live-in dormitory rooms, and additional storage and accessory spaces.

RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
