Kinkead welcomes $2.1 million in state grant funding

State dollars support streetscape improvements, new vehicle purchases

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 16 – State Rep. Emily Kinkead announced today that more than $2.1 million in state grants has been awarded to support projects in the 20th Legislative District and across the region.

“I am proud to support these investments that will make a tangible difference in the lives of our community members,” said Kinkead, D-Allegheny. “These dollars from the state are improving public walkways, helping our first responders and expanding access to transportation for residents with disabilities. It is money well spent, and I will continue advocating for grants like this as a state representative.”

Kinkead said funding was awarded as follows:

  • $800,000 to Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire to support the purchase of a new pumper truck.
  • $300,000 to ALCOSAN for new combination sewer cleaning trucks.
  • $250,000 to Avalon Borough for six sections of alleyway repaving.
  • $200,000 to Arc Human Services for nine new, accessible vehicles supporting safe transport of residents with disabilities.
  • $200,000 to Bellevue Borough for streetscape improvements along Lincoln Ave.
  • $100,000 to Ross/West View EMS to support the purchase of a new ambulance.
  • $75,000 to West View Borough for improving the Ridgewood-Center Ave. public stairway.
  • $63,320 to Ross Township Police for traffic safety equipment.
  • $57,169 to West View Borough for public stairway improvements along Martsolf Ave. and Center Ave.

The grants were awarded through the Local Share Account program, which is funded from revenue generated by gaming and is administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects that enhance economic development, public infrastructure, and community vitality.
