Madsen welcomes funding for local water and sewer upgrades

HARRISBURG, Dec. 19 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, today announced over $5 million in grants from the state Commonwealth Financing Authority have been awarded to four water and sewer projects in his district.
“These grants will go a long way to improving stormwater drainage and set our region up for continued success,” Madsen said. “'This funding will not only fortify the reliability of our infrastructure but also pave the way for essential upgrades, promoting sustainable growth and development in our communities.”
H2O PA Grants
- $3,500,000 for construction of the Paxton Street Interceptor in the city of Harrisburg.
- $1,433,856 for an interceptor improvement project located in Lower Swatara Township.
Small Water and Sewer Grants:
- $401,500 for sanitary sewer improvements located in Lower Swatara Township.
- $97,099 for the rehabilitation of sanitary sewer infrastructure in Paxtang Borough.
The grants are through the H2O PA Program and the Small Water and Sewer Program, which are administered by CFA.
The H2O PA Grant Program provides single-year and multi-year grants for the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer projects; the construction or renovation of flood control projects; and the repair or rehabilitation of high-hazard, unsafe dams.
The Small Water and Sewer Program funds activities to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, and storm sewer system.
“Tackling these types of infrastructure projects has been at the forefront of many peoples’ minds for a long time,” Madsen added. “Securing over $5 million in grants for critical water and sewer projects emphasizes our commitment to bolstering local infrastructure.”
