Madsen to host Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program “Walk-in Wednesdays” throughout February

HARRISBURG, Feb. 5 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, will be hosting walk-ins every Wednesday during the month of February to assist qualifying residents in filing their Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program application forms for claim year 2023.

“Stop by my office during ‘Walk-in Wednesdays' to discover the benefits of the expanded Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, check your eligibility, and receive assistance with your application,” Madsen said. “As a strong advocate for the program’s expansion this year, I’m excited to ensure every qualifying resident receives the support they deserve."

Eligible applicants for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program include:

•           Adults ages 65 and older.

•           Widows and widowers ages 50 and older.

•           People with disabilities ages 18 and older.

The new adjusted income limit income for homeowners and renters is $45,000. Applicants only need to count half of their Social Security income when applying. In addition to increasing the income limits, the maximum rebate amount increased to $1,000.

For verification purposes, applicants are required to bring documents containing all sources of income. Homeowners must provide receipted tax bills for 2023. Renters must submit a PA Rent certificate, accompanied by a physical record of rent payments for 2023.

Madsen said rebate program applications outside of open house hours can be scheduled during normal operating hours at the district office until the program application deadline of June 30.
