Madsen announces more than $136,000 awarded for local fire companies, EMS

HARRISBURG, Feb. 21 – State Rep. Dave Madsen, D-Dauphin, today announced $136,026 in state funding to fund equipment, training, facility repairs and other expenses for fire and EMS companies in the 104th Legislative District.

“Our communities’ safety hinges on adequately funded emergency responders who bravely serve us in times of need,” Madsen said. “With these grants, we ensure they have the resources, equipment, and training necessary to safeguard our neighborhoods.”

The following grants were awarded:

  • Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Highspire - $13,061.55.
  • Allison Hook and Ladder Co. No. 2 - $15,590.33.
  • Community LifeTeam - $15,000.00.
  • Friendship Fire Co. No. 1 - $15,006.77.
  • Harrisburg River Rescue & Emergency Services - $13,839.63.
  • Lower Swatara Volunteer Fire Department - $15,590.33.
  • Reliance Hose Co. No. 1 - $14,812.24.
  • Steelton Volunteer Fire Department - $16,173.90.
  • Swatara Township Volunteer Fire Co. Station No. 1 - $16,951.99.

The grants are made available by the Fire Company and Medical Services Grant Program, which is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The grants can be used for facility construction or repair, equipment purchase or repair, debt reduction, and training.
