NORRISTOWN, Sept. 16 – State Rep. Greg Scott, D-Montgomery, and the Norristown Public Library today applauded $244,236 in state funds awarded to the Norristown Public Library to broaden the scope of its outreach efforts.
The funds will be used to purchase three new box trucks for the library to use for delivery and outreach to community members.
“This investment lets MCNPL bring books, technology, and community connection directly to seniors, students, and families across Montgomery County — meeting residents where they are,” said Karen J. DeAngelo, executive director and district administrator of the Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library.
“Libraries are an essential public service, but sometimes, families, older residents, and others don’t have the means to easily access them,” said Scott. “The Norristown Public Library does significant work to ensure community members who could benefit from its services have access to them, even off-site. These new trucks will help them do that to an even greater degree.”
The grants come from Local Share Account funds, which are approved and distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
