Scott: Over $900K to upgrade Norristown sewer system

NORRISTOWN, Sept. 16 – State Rep. Greg Scott, D-Montgomery, and the Norristown Municipal Waste Authority applaud the allocation of $942,211 in state funding to rehabilitate portions of the sewer system in the municipality of Norristown.
According to a statement from the authority, the grant will fund trenchless pipe lining, point repairs, pipe replacement, and manhole improvements.
“The focus of the authority’s sewer rehabilitation program is to increase the capacity of the sewers and water treatment plant, address aging infrastructure, and support development,” the authority said. “These goals ensure the infrastructure is one more reason developers are attracted to Norristown. We appreciate Representative Scott and his staff for assisting us in obtaining this grant.”
“These improvements, especially the increased capacity for sanitary sewers and the treatment plant, are effective means of reducing the amount of rainwater that flows into the system during major storms,” said Scott. “Not only are we enticing new builds in the community, we’re protecting those already here from water damage that we’ve suffered before.”
The grants come from Local Share Account funds, which are approved and distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
