Rep. Mandy Steele March 27, 2026 | 11:25 AM
I was pleased that 782 people attended my concealed carry seminar on Saturday with the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department. It’s important to learn about the rules and regulations for firearm transport safety and to have professional law enforcement on hand to help with obtaining or renewing concealed carry permits. Thank you to everyone who pitched in to help with the event—the sheriff’s department, the PA Game Commission, District Attorney Stephen Zappala’s office, and Harrison Police. And thank you to Harrison Township Citizens Hose Fire & EMS for hosting!
Tomorrow: Free smoke alarms in Sharpsburg and Aspinwall
Working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death from home fires in half, which is why I’m joining the American Red Cross and Southern Allegheny Valley Emergency Services to install free smoke alarms in Sharpsburg and Aspinwall tomorrow, Saturday, March 28. To make an appointment or for additional information, call 412-263-5278.
My School Services Counseling Act clears committee
My bill to strengthen school counseling services in PA cleared a key hurdle in the House this week. H.B. 2218 advanced out of the House Education Committee and now heads to the full House for consideration.
The bill would ensure that school counselors, who are often pulled away from their core responsibilities to cover classrooms or fill other needs, are available to students and not assigned to other work. The proposal reflects extensive feedback from education stakeholders over the past two legislative sessions.
You can watch my remarks in committee here.
Partnering with the county to help you with tax and licensing matters
A new service is now available at my Cheswick office! Once a month through September, I will host a representative from Allegheny County Treasurer Erica Rocchi Brusselars’ office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents can use these special days and hours at my office, located at 1296 Pittsburgh St., to pay county property taxes; apply for the Homestead/Farmstead Exclusion or Senior Citizen Tax Relief programs; or obtain hunting, fishing, or dog licenses.
Mark your calendars with the dates and times on the graphic above!
Share your feedback on PennDOT winter services
PennDOT is seeking feedback on their winter services in our communities. Through the anonymous survey, available through April 14, respondents can share their thoughts on PennDOT’s performance this winter season, how they receive PennDOT roadway information and if they use the state’s 511PA traveler information services.
The survey also covers topics such as timeline expectations for safe and passable roadways, as well as how locals rank snow-removal priorities. It includes 17 questions and should take about five minutes to complete.
