More than $6.6 million awarded for water, sewer projects

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Dec. 19 – To fund projects for water supplies, sewer systems, and stormwater management, the state Commonwealth Financing Authority today awarded more than $6.6 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act, announced state Rep. Mandy Steele, D-Allegheny.

“With these grants, we will have the opportunity to address infrastructure issues with water supplies, sewer systems, and stormwater management,” Steele said. “These grants, awarded by CFA through funding from ARPA, will assist residents in Fawn, Frazer, Harrison, East Deer, Harmar and Indiana townships and Brackenridge, Cheswick, Springdale, and Tarentum boroughs.”

CFA awarded more than $3.95 million from the COVID-19 ARPA H2O Pennsylvania – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program, including:

  • $1.65 million to Fawn Frazer Joint Water Authority to replace waterlines on Bull Creek Road.
  • $1 million to Tarentum Borough for a 1-million-gallon tank and pump station.
  • $1 million to Upper Allegheny Joint Sanitary Authority for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant.
  • $300,000 to Tarentum Borough to rehabilitate the mechanical parts of the water treatment plan.

In addition, CFA allocated $2.71 million from the COVID-19 ARPA PA Small Water & Sewer Program, including:

  • $425,000 to Harrison Township Water Authority to construct a water distribution system.
  • $408,240 to Harrison Township to improve the stormwater conveyance system.
  • $400,605 to Cheswick Borough to replace the waterline on North Highland Avenue.
  • $386,325 to Springdale Borough replace the waterline on North Street.
  • $339,980 to Brackenridge Borough to replace the storm sewer on Morgan Street.
  • $273,517 to Fawn Frazer Joint Water Authority to provide for a waterline extension on Bakerstown Road.
  • $215,171 to East Deer Township to replace a water main.
  • $168,095 to Harmar Township to reline sanitary sewer lines.
  • $100,000 to Deer Creek Drainage Basin Authority to provide for sewer lining.

CFA awarded more than $5.45 million to five projects in Allegheny County through the COVID-19 ARPA H2O Pennsylvania – Water Supply, Sanitary Sewer and Storm Water Projects Program, in addition to $12.71 million to 51 projects through the COVID-19 ARPA Pennsylvania Small Water & Sewer Program.
