Ohio Township Tree Lighting Brings Bright Start to the Season
Ohio Township kicked off the holiday season in a bright way with a beautiful and festive tree-lighting ceremony that Veena and I enjoyed. Many thanks to the township, parks and recreation staff, first responders, and our Ohio Township neighbors for a wonderful event!
More than $800,000 Secured for School Safety and Mental Health Resources
I’m excited to announce that schools in our district will have new resources for security and mental health programs, thanks to more than $800,000 in new funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. You can read more here.
DMVA Says Those Looking to Donate Should Consider Programs for Veterans, Service Members
The state Department of Veterans and Military Affairs (DMVA) is encouraging Pennsylvanians looking for a patriotic way to donate over the holiday season to consider the Veterans’ Trust Fund, the Military Family Relief Assistance Program, or other tax-deductible programs that support PA’s nearly 700,000 veterans, service members, and their families. Fishing Licenses, Permits, and Gift Vouchers Now on Sale
Anglers – 2025 fishing licenses, permits, and gift vouchers are now on sale and may be purchased by visiting HuntFishPA, using the FishBoatPA mobile app on your phone, or visiting a retail license issuing agent. You can read more here.
Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applications Due by Dec. 31
This is a reminder that Dec. 31 is the deadline to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2023. The program, which was recently expanded, benefits income-eligible seniors 65 or older, widows or widowers 50 or older, and residents with disabilities 18 or older. Borough of Franklin Park Seeking to Fill Board Openings
The Borough of Franklin Park is looking to fill board vacancies for the borough’s Building Board of Appeals (requires specific licensing, training and experience), Civil Service Commission, Environmental Advisory Council, Planning Commission, Recreation Board and Zoning Hearing Board. Around the District
McCandless Winterfest will be held this Saturday, Dec. 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The town is partnering with the North Hills Community Outreach to help neighbors in need. If you would like to help, please bring an item to Winterfest. The most requested items are canned tuna, olive oil/cooking oil, peanut butter, laundry detergent and dish soap.
