Protecting Homeowners and Their Assets

Video

For nearly all Pennsylvanians, their home is their most valuable financial asset. Shared appreciation agreements are a novel way to access capital by selling a stake in future home appreciation. These products should be regulated in the same way as mortgages. My bipartisan legislation, HB 2120, will ensure that.

At a hearing this week, it also became clear that the industry marketing these products is willing to offer financial inducements for testimony—an outrageous corruption of our deliberative legislative process.

I will always stand with my fellow Pennsylvanians and fight against corruption in our state government. I was proud to publicly call out those who would take advantage of my neighbors to make a quick buck and try to play my colleagues for fools.

You can watch my remarks at this hearing in the video above and learn more here.

Celebrating our Football State
Champs – and other District News

It was a pleasure to welcome Ohio Township Supervisor Brian Krul as he presented me with a sweatshirt from the state champion Avonworth High School football team. Congratulations to Brian’s son and all the members of this championship team, you’ve made our entire community proud!

Veena and I had a wonderful time seeing North Allegheny High School’s production of Frozen this weekend. Congratulations to the amazing student performers, parents, teachers, and staff for putting on such a fantastic show!

Recent Successes from our Local Students

Many of our local students have recently had major success in athletics and academics.

Avonworth senior Auston Kosanovic is heading to states for wrestling after his third-place finish in Southwest regionals.

North Allegheny High School took first place in the high school division of the 2026 Western Pennsylvania Science Bowl at the Community College of Allegheny County South Campus. You can read more about their victory here.

Alex Gosnell finished in fourth place at the PIAA West Regionals in wrestling, while Bradyn McConneha won the boys’ championship. Both North Allegheny students will now compete in the PIAA Championship in Hershey, and Gosnell becomes only the second girl from North Allegheny to reach the championship.

Congratulations to all our students on their amazing academic and athletic achievements!

Governor’s Survey for Women in Pennsylvania

The Governor’s Advisory Commission on Women has launched a new digital survey to gather input from women across Pennsylvania. This survey is part of the Shapiro Administration’s upcoming State of the Woman Report, a comprehensive, data-driven effort to assess the status of women throughout the state.

The survey, which can be found here, will be open through May 30 and will collect insight from Pennsylvania women on their experiences and priorities to better inform the Administration’s policies that impact women. The survey is also available in Spanish and Chinese.

There will also be a statewide listening tour to further engage with the women of Pennsylvania, including a stop in Pittsburgh on May 14.

Finally, please remember that my talented staff can help you with a variety of state-related matters – from filing an application for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program to obtaining a disability placard or senior bus pass, just to name a few. Contact us or stop by to see how we can help!
