Venkat to host license plate legibility event June 15

WEXFORD, June 9 – State Rep. Arvind Venkat, D-Allegheny, will co-host a License Plate Peeling event with AAA on Thursday, June 15.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside of AAA in Wexford Plaza, 10548 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA.

The event will help motorists determine if their license plates are illegible and help them apply for a free replacement, if necessary.

Allegheny County and Port Authority Police will be on-site to inspect license plates and sign forms.

“State law prohibits driving with illegible license plates,” Venkat said. “With this event, we can help motorists identify if their plate cannot be recognized from 50 feet away. Since motorists with illegible license plates qualify for a free replacement for their license plate, we can connect them with the resources available.”

Motorists will not receive a new license plate at the event. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will issue new plates after paperwork is processed.

For questions on the event, residents should call Rep. Venkat’s office at 412-348-8028.
