Mercy Center for Women lands $1M+

I helped welcome PA's Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger back to Erie to discuss the impact of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) on organizations like Erie’s Mercy Center for Women. Congratulations to the Mercy Center for Women for being awarded over $1M! This is what happens when there is cooperation and collaboration among both political parties, in both chambers, coming together for our community.

Made in Erie: Zurn Elkay

I joined other lawmakers from Erie County this week for a tour of the Zurn Elkay Water Solutions facility in Erie. Zurn is a leader in the clean water industry, and is working with us on oversight legislation for filtering water, ensuring our drinking water is lead, PFAS, and microplastic-free. Protecting public health is a top priority, and because of Zurn's efforts, Pennsylvania has the chance to be a national leader in providing safe water. The firm dates back to 1900, when John Zurn set up shop in a local barn making valves and other plumbing products.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday

My staff and I are observing Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, and so my office will be closed. This holiday has become synonymous with service, and there are several activities including the parade - Erie Times News has the details here.

TAX FORMS AVAILABLE IN FEBRUARY

You trust us to have the forms you need. Rest assured, my team has ordered federal, state and local tax forms for your use later this year.

When we receive them, they will be free for all residents to stop by and pick up at our office in Millcreek. We will notify you here and through social media channels when they arrive and are available.

HOW WE VOTED

If you are in search of a particular piece of legislation, or the online record of how the House voted, you can always view it here.

The House will return to Harrisburg on Jan. 27-29.

THIS IS WHAT WE DO ...

I chair the House Majority Policy Committee. We travel the state to host hearings and roundtable discussions with members of the House.

We bring in experts, advocates, first responders, victims, survivors, taxpayers, workers, executives and professionals, all so that members of the House can hear directly from the people on the front lines.

GEARING UP TO HELP YOU IN 2025

PROPERTY TAX & RENT REBATES: If you file for a rebate through the state's Property Tax & Rent Rebate Program, we will again be able to assist you.

However, forms from the state have not yet been released.

Once we have the forms, we will notify you here and on social media that we are once again assisting anyone who requests help. Just as a reminder, applicants will need:

  • Proof of Social Security Income.
  • Stamped "PAID" Property Tax Receipts.
  • Proof of earnings from jobs, IRAs, investment dividends etc.

For renters, my team and I can provide the rent certificate, but it must be filled out by the landlord. For those individuals that own their mobile home and rent the lot, they will need property tax receipts AND a landlord certificate.

SAFEGUARDING OUR SCHOOLS

When private for-profit schools and their dark money backers came after Fairview and Millcreek School Districts to siphon off taxpayer dollars to make a profit off taxpayers. I stopped them. We need to protect our high-performing schools!

My team and I deliver for local people & projects. We cut the red tape in Harrisburg to secure the support our region needs.

  • When our schools need funding ...
  • When our police officers need a new vehicle to preserve lives ...
  • When our firefighters need funds for life-saving equipment ...

We delivered to the tune of more than $92 million during the 2023-24 legislative session.

MY TEAM IS IN FAIRVIEW EVERY WEDNESDAY

I wanted to remind folks that my team and I hold Wednesday office hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fairview Township Building, 7471 McCray Road, Fairview, PA 16415.

The cornerstone of my office is service to you, our neighbors. By holding office hours at the township, we're making it easier for folks to reach us, so we can help them.
