HARRISBURG, Dec. 17 — State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, announced today that nearly $600,000 in tax credits was awarded to four organizations providing valuable community support in Cambria County.
The awards come from the state’s Neighborhood Assistance Program, which received $72 million in the new state budget that Burns supported.
“These tax credits will help these organizations do great work in Cambria County by encouraging private investment,” Burns said. “These organizations train people for good jobs, provide much-needed healthy food, and help people with disabilities, among other things. I appreciate everything these organizations do, and I’m glad the state can help.”
The organizations receiving awards are:
- JARI: $33,150 for job training for in-demand jobs to combat local poverty with family-sustaining wages.
- Cambria County Library System: $35,550 for ADA-accessible renovations and training for staff to help residents with disabilities access government resources.
- The Learning Lamp Inc.: $171,000 to help child care providers by offering free business coaching and a schools-to-work pipeline with tuition assistance.
- Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank: $351,351 for a partnership with Brian Campbell Farms to distribute fresh produce and frozen protein to 2,145 households monthly in Cambria and Armstrong counties.
