Cephas secures $500,000 in PHARE grant funding for Philadelphia housing and community development programs

PHILADELPHIA, June 15 State Rep. Morgan Cephas, D-Philadelphia, today announced $500,000 in Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement grant funding for three housing and community development programs in her district.

“I am so proud to see half a million dollars awarded to these three incredible organizations,” said Cephas. “Through PHARE funding, these organizations will be able to expand on their work to ensure stable housing for the people of Philadelphia. I want to thank the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency for providing this assistance to keep families in their homes, create generational wealth, support reentry efforts and more.”

The grants were awarded as follows:

  • $250,000 to Rebuilding Together West Philadelphia, which provides free home repairs to ensure families are safe, healthy and energy efficient. This protects homeowners from the pressures of gentrification and secures the home as an asset to pass on to the next generation.

  • $150,000 to Episcopal Community Services Impact Housing, which connects families to rental assistance and supportive services so they can secure safe, affordable housing and stay in their homes.

  • $100,000 to Ardella’s Pathways Home, which provides stable housing and reentry support to at-risk women, including diversionary housing for justice-impacted mothers and transitional housing for women leaving incarceration. This stable housing reduces recidivism and fosters long term self-sufficiency.
