E-Blast: 2025 Year in Review

Hello Neighbors, Community Members and Friends,

As we welcome 2026, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the highs and lows of 2025 and to embrace the possibilities this new year holds. While the past year brought challenges—from the ongoing closures of Crozer Health locations in our community to the broader uncertainty and disruptions at the federal level—I was continually inspired by the resilience and strength of our community.

Across Delaware County and beyond, our neighbors answered the call in the face of loss and tragedy last year. When families needed urgent support, I witnessed our community come together without hesitation—especially when critical resources like SNAP and LIHEAP were at risk. I also shared in the joy of countless community gatherings that reminded us of who we are and what we stand for, and I am deeply grateful for those moments.

Looking ahead, I remain focused on the issues residents raise most often: the growing housing shortage and lack of affordable options, rising property and school taxes, access to quality public education, reliable transportation, and ensuring that no family in our community goes hungry. The continued closure of hospitals and the emergence of maternal health deserts in Delaware County have also heightened serious concerns about access to care, especially for pregnant people and seniors. These are the challenges that keep families up at night, and they demand thoughtful, coordinated solutions.

In Harrisburg, I am committed to advancing policies that stabilize housing, invest in our schools, protect food assistance programs, strengthen public transit, and improve access to healthcare, including maternal and reproductive care. The recently passed Pennsylvania budget reflects important progress, with increased investments in education, housing and homelessness prevention, transportation infrastructure, maternal health initiatives, and food security programs. While there is still more work to be done, these budget wins provide a stronger foundation for our communities and show what is possible when we put people first.

It is a true honor to serve our community and represent you in Harrisburg. This new year gives us the chance to further strengthen our towns and neighborhoods, expand access to essential services, and continue building a future where every resident has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Thank you for the trust you continue to place in me and my team. I look forward to continuing this work with you and to all that 2026 holds for the 164th Legislative District.

Let's Continue to Make a Difference Together! Happy New Year!

In Solidarity and Partnership,

Gina H. Curry

What to know about the federal freeze of childcare subsidies

Earlier this week, the Trump administration announced a freeze on funds from the Child Care and Development Fund, the largest federal funding source for child care. The announcement followed the discovery of a series of fraud schemes at daycare centers in Minnesota.

CCDF funds are provided to states to help administer child care assistance programs for low-income families. While the fraud was identified in Minnesota, the administration is now requiring all 50 states to submit additional verification and administrative data about their programs before receiving further federal funding.

It is not yet clear how this change may impact child care assistance in Pennsylvania, but I am closely monitoring developments. We will share updates in future emails as more information becomes available.

2025 Legislative Year in Review

I’m proud of the work we did for you at home and in Harrisburg this year! Check out some of the highlights:

New grants announced

In late December, the statewide Local Share Account grants were announced. I’m happy to share that seven projects in Delaware County – five right here in Legislative District 164 – received funding! Take a look at the graphic to see what’s on the horizon, and read more about the grants here.

Office hours

After a restorative holiday season, our office will return to regular hours next week: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at our district office:
1500 Garrett Road, Upper Darby, PA 19082-4519.

Supporting your families this holiday season

This December my team and I brought you two community service events designed to ease some of the everyday stresses families in our communities face.

On Dec. 18, we joined Sens. Kearney and Cappelletti, members of the House Delaware County Delegation, the Foundation for Delaware County, and our local YMCAs to host a Diaper Drive that collected thousands of baby essentials for area families. This year’s drive was our largest collection ever!

We know that accessing food assistance can be challenging during the holiday season, as many local food pantries and banks close for the holidays. That’s why, on Dec. 29, we joined the Share Food Program and Sen. Kearney for a holiday food distribution in Upper Darby, providing free boxes of food to more than 150 local families!

I’m deeply grateful to everyone who donated to the Diaper Drive, to the Share Food Program, and to all our community partners for supporting these events. Your generosity truly makes our community shine.
