Curry to host second Equity in Education virtual panel

(September 15, 2022)

UPPER DARBY, Sept. 15 – State Rep. Gina H. Curry, D-Delaware, will host a second virtual panel on equity in education at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. This community discussion will focus on the impact that mental health has on students and families. School administrators, health officials, parents and community members are invited to attend this virtual discussion. “According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in six U.S. youth aged 6-17 have a mental health condition, but only half receive mental health services,” said Curry. “This past July, our state legislature passed a historic budget that included a $100 million increase for mental health support. This is a good start, but there is more work to do to ensure mental health resources are available for all students, regardless of background or Zip code. “The Equity in Education: Mental Health Awareness virtual panel is designed to identify and bring awareness of the mental health needs and inequities that are impacting our youth. The 164 th Legislative District would like to invite the community to join us for this important open discussion on the day-to-day mental health support needed in our schools.” Curry said the discussion will be live streamed on her Facebook page, www.facebook.com/RepGinaCurry .
