(Nov 15, 2022)

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 15 – State Rep. Dan Deasy announced today that two local projects have been selected to receive $400,000 in gaming and economic development funding, awarded Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Financing Authority. “I want to congratulate all of the people who worked to make these projects possible, and I want to thank the financing authority for continuing to invest in our communities,” Deasy said. “These may not be big highway projects or large redevelopment initiatives, but each will have a positive impact on their communities and neighborhoods.” The grants awarded Tuesday include: Township of Scott, $200,000 to fund improvements at three stormwater basin locations. Pittsburgh Musical Theater, $200,000 to address water infiltration of the building and other repairs to preserve the building’s exterior. The grants were among a number that are funded by the Allegheny County Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund , which is financed by gaming activity in the county. Deasy announces more than $583,000 in state funding for Sheraden Park

(Nov 02, 2022)

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 2 – State Rep. Dan Deasy, D-Allegheny, announced today that the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program awarded $583,467 in funding for the Sheraden Park rehabilitation project in Pittsburgh. The funding will be used for phase one of improvements to the hiking trails, hillside dog park, wilderness education area, ADA-accessible community garden and apiary. The project also includes site preparation, grading, landscaping, signage, stair repair, pedestrian lighting and safety improvements. “Sheraden Park has provided many outdoor benefits for our community and this redevelopment project would make it more accessible to more people,” Deasy said. “I believe in the park’s potential to provide more recreational activities and opportunities through this project. I’m happy to have helped in securing a grant that invests in the park’s future.” Grants through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program are administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. The RACP funding is in addition to the $4.25 million announced last week for the Josh Gibson Foundation and Welly LLC. Read more
