Freeman: Local parks will be renovated with $469,000 in grants

HARRISBURG, Oct. 6 – State Rep. Robert Freeman said $469,000 in funding from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has been awarded to two parks in Northampton County.
“These grants show the importance of improved and accessible recreational spaces in our communities,” Freeman said. “Parks, trails and other green spaces offer relaxation and locations for people to enjoy either alone or with friends and family.”
Freeman said Wilson Borough will receive $250,000 to rehabilitate and further develop Meuser Park, including renovating the tennis courts and parking area, building pedestrian walkways, installing fencing, making the park accessible to people with disabilities, landscaping, and other related site improvements.
Hellertown Borough will use its $219,000 to rehabilitate and further develop Reinhard’s Park. The work will include renovating the baseball field, building pedestrian walkways, gazebo, and stormwater management measures, installing fencing, making the park accessible to people with disabilities, landscaping, and other related site improvements.
Freeman said DCNR’s Community Conservation Partnerships Program allocates funding for projects related to parks, recreation and conservation.
