Giral: $2.7 million in state funds for community improvement

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 17 – State Rep. Jose Giral, D-Phila., today announced an infusion of $2.7 million in state funding for community improvement projects in his district.

The grants awarded include:

  • $991,544 for Impact Services Inc. to renovate its office located along Allegheny Ave.
  • $944,956 for Rock Ministries to continue its Phase II construction of a mixed-use affordable housing and retail building in Kensington.
  • $780,000 for the city of Philadelphia to install shade structures at four heat vulnerable playgrounds.

“Ensuring our residents have access to effective resources, affordable housing options, and safe places to play is key to bringing better quality of life to our community,” said Giral. “I’m proud to have helped bring this state funding to our area and am eager to see the impact of these projects as they’re finalized.”

The grants come from Local Share Account funds which are approved and distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
