Guenst announces transportation grants for Hatboro, Upper Moreland Township

HARRISBURG, April 21 – State Rep. Nancy Guenst announced today that Hatboro and Upper Moreland Township will receive state grants for transportation projects.

“Supporting transportation improvement projects is critically important for our communities. The projects awarded funding today will have a great impact for our residents for years to come,” said Guenst, D-Montgomery/Phila.

Hatboro was awarded $499,349 for the replacement of the timber bridge along West Monument Avenue. The existing bridge has exceeded its lifespan, and the grant will fund the design and construction of a replacement.

Upper Moreland Township was awarded $1.35 million for the first phase of Route 611 improvements at the Willow Grove Interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The improvements are part of a project to reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow.

The funding was awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. A total of $47.8 million was awarded for 56 highway, bridge, transit and bike and pedestrian projects in 28 counties.
