Guenst welcomes $1.3 million in funding for two local transportation projects

HARRISBURG, March 26 – State Rep. Nancy Guenst, D-Montgomery, today announced that more than $1.3 million in grant funding has been awarded to support transportation improvements in Upper Moreland and Lower Moreland townships.

"Continuous maintenance of our infrastructure guarantees that our roads and pedestrian walkways safeguard the well-being of our community,” Guenst said. “We're prioritizing projects that directly impact the accessibility and safety of our neighborhoods. These investments ensure sustainable development and enhance the overall quality of life for our residents."

The projects that were awarded funding are:

  • $897,375 to Upper Moreland Township to rehabilitate the Maryland Road bridge.
  • $433,442 to Lower Moreland Township to construct sidewalks along Byberry Road

The funding comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth.
