State lawmakers announce investments for community programs
Reps. Bradford, Hanbidge and Malagari highlight tax credits to Montco organizations, businesses

HARRISBURG, Nov. 10 – Using funding from the Neighborhood Assistance Program to support nonprofit organizations, resident projects and businesses, state Reps. Matt Bradford, Liz Hanbidge and Steve Malagari announced tax credits across the region. Tax credits totaling almost $2.2 million have been approved to help improve neighborhoods in Montgomery County.
“Our nonprofits are the backbone of the community, providing firsthand services to people who need them most – especially over the many long months of the pandemic,” Bradford said. “The financial relief provided through state programs like Neighborhood Assistance allow these organizations to continue investing in our local communities, building affordable housing, addressing food insecurity, providing needed legal aid and child services, and supporting the arts – all things that make Montgomery County a better place to live and work.”
The lawmakers announced the investments will be used in a broad range of projects.
“These organizations help our communities and neighborhoods be better places to reside," Hanbidge said. “I’m glad to see that we are investing in them so they can continue to provide these vital services.”
NAP provides COVID-19 and social justice-related assistance, including priority to projects to address issues related to the pandemic.
“I’m very pleased to see investments going to these organizations that not only feed and house residents in our region, but also provide services our neighbors and friends need,” Malagari said.
NAP can be used for projects in categories including affordable housing, community services, crime prevention, education, job training, charitable food, blight, special population issues, veteran’s initiatives, and long-term community revitalization.
The lawmakers said the tax credits include:
- $1,972,294 – Philabundance - Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, & Philadelphia County.
- $112,500 – Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery & Delaware counties, West Norriton Township; Hatfield Township; Norristown, Montgomery County.
- $75,000 – Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Bristol Township, Bucks County.
- $18,750 – Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, Pottstown, Montgomery County (AKA Mission Kids).
- $1,650 – Centro de Cultura Arte Trabajo y Education (CCATE), Norristown, Montgomery County.
