Kosierowski encourages grant application before deadline

TAYLOR, Sept. 11 – State Rep. Bridget Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna, is encouraging local businesses, economic development or transportation agencies, and local municipalities to apply for up to $3 million in grant funding through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund before the Sept. 30 application deadline closes.

Kosierowski said the fund encourages economic development and ensures safe and reliable transportation and is overseen by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Projects that are focused on development, water quality, energy, infrastructure and more, are approved for funding by the CFA.

“This grant program provides an opportunity to make investments in our communities,” Kosierowski said. “I’m always happy to help local businesses and municipalities navigate through the grant process to ensure the largest amount of funding possible finds a way back to Lackawanna County.

“Being able to help foster development and investment, especially in areas that were once considered environmentally scarred or useless, is one of the greatest aspects about representing all of the neighborhoods in the 114th district,” said Kosierowski.

Act 89 of 2013 established the dedicated Multimodal Transportation Fund, which stabilizes funding for ports and rail freight, increases aviation investments, establishes dedicated funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and allows targeted funding for priority investments in any mode.
