Kosierowski welcomes new behavioral health partnership in Lackawanna County

MOOSIC, March 31 A new venture announced this week between Geisinger and Acadia Healthcare will bring more behavioral care and treatment to northeastern Pennsylvania families, according to state Rep. Bridget M. Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna.

“Mental health remains a serious crisis in Pennsylvania and it not only impacts adults, but adolescents, children and their families, as well,” Kosierowski said. “This partnership will provide easier access to state-of-the-art care and potentially life-saving treatments to patients and their loved ones.”

The Geisinger and Acadia partnership will include the construction of a 73,000-square-foot facility in Moosic with construction expected to begin this fall and be completed in 2022. The facility will include 96 beds and plans to provide services to both adult and pediatric patients. The partnership also includes plans to build a second behavioral health facility in Danville, Montour County.
