Kosierowski secures $375,000 in state grants

HARRISBURG, Jan. 16 – State Rep. Bridget Kosierowski said the Commonwealth Financing Authority today approved $375,000 in state grants for Lackawanna County recreation and restoration projects.
“It is always great to see grant dollars being returned to our area, and I look forward to the completion of these outdoor projects,” said Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna. “I would like to thank Senator Marty Flynn and the CFA for approving the funding.”
Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program grants were awarded to the following:
- Dickson City Borough: $175,000 for the final phase of the Dickson City Riverfront Park Development Project.
- City of Scranton: $50,000 for the Davis Trail Revitalization project.
- Lackawanna Valley Conservancy: $50,000 for the Depot Street Trail Head project.
Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program projects involve development, rehabilitation and improvements to public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails, and river conservation. Grants can be awarded for up to $250,000 for any project. A 15% match of the total project cost is required.
A $100,000 Watershed Restoration Protection Program grant will be used by the city of Scranton for the Leggett's Creek Greenway Eco-Restoration project.
The overall goal of the Watershed Restoration and Protection Program is to restore and maintain restored stream reaches impaired by the uncontrolled discharge of nonpoint source polluted runoff, and ultimately to remove these streams from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Impaired Waters list. A maximum of $300,000 is available for any project. A 15% match of the total project cost is required.
