Dear Neighbor,
We had a beautiful day on Saturday for our shredding, drug-take back, and e-waste recycling event at Upland Park. With warm sunshine and blue skies, it was the perfect day, and we had a great turnout. Thank you to everyone who came out and took advantage of these community services.
As we move further into spring, our busy event season is slowly beginning to wind down. This week, I’m co-hosting a Senior Wills Clinic with Sen. John Kane and in partnership with Legal Aid of Southeastern PA.
As always, thank you for staying connected and involved in our community.

Visiting Kehillah Early Learning Center in Wallingford
|
Last Monday, I visited Federation Early Learning Services (FELS) Kehillah Early Learning Center located at Ohev Shalom in Wallingford along with representatives from Children’s First. During my visit, I toured the school, visited classrooms and met with school staff and FELS administrators to learn more about the important work they are doing to support children and families in our community.
We had a thoughtful conversation about the needs of early childhood education programs, including the supports that families, children and teachers need to succeed. Early learning programs play such an important role in setting children up for success, and it was valuable to hear directly from educators and staff about both the challenges they face and the positive impact these programs have every day.
It was also encouraging to hear that teachers at the center were able to benefit from the new Childcare Worker Retention and Recruitment program, which I voted for in last year’s budget. They told me the program has helped with teacher retention and supporting the early childhood education workforce. Supporting and retaining dedicated educators is critical as we continue working to strengthen access to quality early learning opportunities for families across our community.

Working together to support our schools
|
Last Friday, I attended the Delaware County Intermediate Unit Legislative Breakfast, where I joined legislators, education leaders, and school board directors from across Delaware County for important conversations about school district mandates and the impact they have on our schools.
Thank you to Kevin Busher, Chief Advocacy Officer, Pennsylvania School Boards Association, Dr. Maria Edelberg, Executive Director of the DCIU, Adrienne Marofsky, DCIU Marketing and Communications Director, and Sen. Tim Kearney for helping lead these discussions.
Conversations like these are so important as we work to better understand how state mandates affect school districts across the Commonwealth. It’s always valuable to have thoughtful discussions about what these requirements mean for schools, the cost of compliance, and how we can continue supporting students, educators, and taxpayers.

Successful Shred Event with Sen. John Kane
|
On Saturday, I joined Sen. John Kane for our annual spring shredding event at Upland Park. This year, we also added electronic recycling to help residents safely dispose of old devices and unwanted electronics.
We were also joined by the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, which hosted a medication take-back to help residents safely dispose of unneeded and expired medications.
Thank you to everyone who came out! We had a great turnout with more than 200 cars coming through the event, and I’m especially grateful to the Delaware County Park Police for being on hand throughout the event to help ensure everyone’s safety.
