PA Representative Leanne Krueger banner image

Dear Neighbor,

It’s hard to believe how quickly summer is flying by! As we look ahead to August, my office has a full schedule of events and resources to help you and your family. Whether you need assistance with state programs, want to attend one of our informational workshops, or are looking for ways to stay connected with our community, I hope you’ll find an opportunity to stop by and see us.

With National Night Out taking place next week, I’m also sharing a list of community events happening throughout the district. These family-friendly gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to meet your local police officers, first responders, neighbors, and community organizations while celebrating the strong partnerships that help keep our neighborhoods safe. You’ll also find an update on a significant state investment to expand emergency care at Main Line Health, along with other state and district news.

Main Line Health receives $4 million

I was proud to join my Delaware County delegation colleagues in announcing a $4 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant for Main Line Health to expand emergency care services in our community.

Since the closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center last year, Riddle Hospital and Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital have experienced a significant increase in emergency room visits as they continue providing care for Delaware County residents. This investment will help expand emergency care capacity by supporting the construction of a full-service outpatient emergency department equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, modern infrastructure, and enhanced treatment capabilities.

Access to quality healthcare is essential. This funding will help ensure that our community has timely access to the high-quality, lifesaving care families deserve while strengthening emergency healthcare services for years to come.

More budget highlights

This investment in Main Line Health is just one example of how this year’s state budget is strengthening healthcare here at home and across the Commonwealth. Despite uncertainty surrounding federal healthcare funding, we passed a budget that continues to invest in hospitals, mental health services, seniors, children, and people with disabilities, helping to ensure Pennsylvanians can access the care they need.

  • More than $615 million to strengthen Medicaid services.
  • Expanded funding for mental health services, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and crisis stabilization centers.
  • Nearly doubled funding for rape crisis centers, helping survivors access critical services and support.
  • Created 1,250 new Medicaid waiver slots for people with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Invested $2.5 million in nursing education and scholarships to strengthen our healthcare workforce.
  • Increased funding for CHIP to help children access healthcare and increase nursing home funding.

Programs & Services

Important SNAP update

If you receive SNAP benefits in Delaware County, you may begin receiving text message reminders from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS). Delaware County is participating in a pilot program that sends reminders to eligible recipients about required semiannual reporting deadlines and helps prevent interruptions in benefits.

Legitimate text messages will come from PA DHS and the number 69217. DHS will never ask you to provide personal information through text messages. If you’re unsure whether a message is legitimate, contact your County Assistance Office.

As always, if you have questions or need assistance with your SNAP benefits, my office is here to help.

PA State Grant Update

Are you or someone you know a first-time student planning to attend community college or trade school? Submit your FAFSA by August 1 to be considered for a 2026-27 PA State Grant.

Apply here.

Students who have already submitted their FAFSA® and completed the PA State Grant process may now be able to view a provisional PA State Grant award in GrantUS.

While final eligibility and award amounts will be determined later, reviewing your provisional award can provide an early estimate of the financial aid you may receive for the upcoming academic year.
