Krueger announces $1.8 million grant for Concord Road intersection improvements

HARRISBURG, July 16 – State Rep. Leanne Krueger announced that Aston Township was awarded a $1.8 million state grant to support intersection improvements along Concord Road.

The grant comes through the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund. The township will use the funding to convert two traditional intersections along a highly traveled portion of Concord Road into modern roundabouts to reduce congestion, improve air quality and enhance pedestrian mobility.

“Reducing congestion is critical for the safety of drivers and others on the road, so I’m pleased to see state funding support improvements for one of the busier stretches in our district,” said Krueger, D-Delaware. “I look forward to seeing these improvements come to fruition and make it a little easier to get around our community.”

Act 89 established the dedicated Multimodal Transportation Fund, which stabilizes funding for ports and rail freight, increases aviation investments, establishes dedicated funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and allows targeted funding for priority investments in any mode.
